A young boy, dressed as Batman, showcased real-life heroism by aiding in the rescue of a man from drowning. Lucas, playing the role of the iconic superhero, spotted the distressed man waving for help from a disappearing sandbank in New Brighton, Merseyside. His keen observation prompted his family to stop and notify the authorities, leading to a successful rescue operation by the RNLI crew.
Debbie Murray, Lucas’ aunt, recounted how the boy’s sharp eyesight and quick thinking were pivotal in the rescue effort. The man, stranded on the sandbank as the tide rapidly rose, was eventually brought to safety with the help of the lifeboat crew. Lucas, having just portrayed Batman in a dance school performance, was hailed as a hero by his family for his brave actions.
Following the dramatic incident, Debbie expressed her relief and gratitude for the timely response of the rescue teams. The rescued man and his dogs were reunited with their family, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Coastguard and RNLI. Lucas, now recognized for his heroic deed, received praise and a special donation made in his honor to the RNLI.
