Woman Dies Saving Dog in Sea Rescue Tragedy

A tragic incident occurred where a woman lost her life while attempting to save her pet dog from the ocean waters. According to Lancashire Police, the woman and a man faced difficulties in Thornton-Cleveleys on Saturday evening when they entered the water to rescue their stuck dog.

The woman, aged in her 60s, received treatment at the scene but was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The man, also in his 60s, was hospitalized and is currently in critical condition. The dog was successfully rescued unharmed after the incident near Fleetwood Beach Cafe, as reported by LancsLive.

A police spokesperson mentioned that emergency services were alerted around 8:31 pm about two individuals rescued from the sea by HM Coastguard. Despite efforts at the scene, the woman passed away at the hospital. The man remains in critical condition, and investigations to locate the woman’s next of kin are ongoing.

Authorities confirmed that the dog was safe and there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the woman’s death. The case will be forwarded to the coroner for further review. This tragedy adds to the recent spike in water-related fatalities during the hot weather period.
