“Welsh Restaurant Owner Outraged as Customers Skip £115 Bill”

A restaurant owner expressed anger after two customers left without paying their £115 bill, causing disappointment. The pair arrived at El Puerto, an upscale restaurant in Penarth, south Wales, at 8pm on June 29, parking their luxurious car in the brasserie’s private lot. They dined on a set menu, Dover sole, calamari, and Coca-Colas before departing without settling their tab.

The business team confirmed the unresolved issue and shared the customers’ food receipt detailing their order. The total bill amounted to £115.60. Tanny Martinez, the owner, emphasized the financial challenges faced by the hospitality industry, stating that such incidents exacerbate the situation.

Martinez expressed deep disappointment for the team, stressing the negative impact of such actions on morale and well-being. The marketing team alleged that the customers made a quick exit when unobserved by staff. The matter has been reported to South Wales Police.

The restaurant’s Facebook post urged direct resolution, and the police are seeking information on the incident. The spokeswoman for South Wales Police confirmed receiving a theft report from The Custom House in Penarth on June 29.
