Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the U.S. Health Secretary, had a close encounter with two snakes when he decided to handle them bare-handed, despite warnings from wildlife experts. The incident took place at the residence of fellow Trump official Mehmet Oz, where Kennedy grabbed two non-venomous Black Racers from the patio, showcasing them in front of a camera while his wife, Cheryl Hines, cautioned him to be careful.
In the video posted on his X account, Kennedy can be seen confidently approaching the slithering snakes, picking them up, and holding them in his fist as they bit him repeatedly. He eventually released the snakes back into the wild. Despite wearing a shirt, trousers, and socks but no shoes, Kennedy seemed unfazed as he shared the clip of the snake encounter.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission issued a reminder that snakes, especially non-venomous ones like the Black Racers, should be admired from a distance and not handled. This incident adds to Kennedy’s history of strange interactions with wildlife, including previous reports of dumping a bear carcass in Central Park and allegedly removing a raccoon’s penis.
Kennedy has faced criticism in the past, with claims that he once severed the head of a dead beached whale with a chainsaw for personal reasons. Although he has not publicly addressed these allegations, his daughter previously recounted the incident in an interview. The family reportedly transported the whale head in their vehicle, causing a pungent odor that led to an unusual journey home, as detailed by Kathleen Kennedy in a past interview.
