Among those accompanying Trump was Natalie Harp, a 35-year-old special assistant and executive assistant to the president, who has been closely involved in his activities since 2022. Described as an essential part of Trump’s team, Harp has earned praise for her dedication and efficiency in supporting the president, including setting up a mobile office that travels with him.
Harp first gained Trump’s attention in 2019 when she commended him for a law benefiting patients seeking experimental treatments. Republicans have emphasized her loyalty to Trump, with Senator John Barrasso noting her significant role in the president’s operations.
The recent attention on Harp stemmed from remarks made by Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff, who insinuated that Trump preferred spending time with Harp over fulfilling his presidential duties. In response, Trump dismissed Ossoff’s comments, referring to him as “Pee-wee Herman” and expressing his focus on White House renovations.
The exchange led to White House communications director Steven Cheung using derogatory language towards Ossoff, sparking criticism and accusations of sexism from conservative commentators. Despite the controversy, Ossoff’s comments garnered attention online, hinting at a possible relationship between Harp and Trump, which has been refuted with no evidence to support such claims.
