Kyren Wilson faced a burglary at his residence while participating in the Championship League Snooker event. The incident occurred during his match against Haydon Pinhey at the Mattioli Arena. Unaware of the theft happening, Wilson secured a 3-0 win before being informed about the break-in.
Upon discovering the burglary, Wilson made the decision to withdraw from the tournament. He disclosed that valuable items, including luxury watches, jewelry, and cash designated for a charitable cause, were stolen. Among the stolen items were a Cartier watch, an Audemars Piguet watch, a ladies’ Rolex Datejust with a pink dial, and a blue sapphire necklace commemorating his 10-year wedding anniversary.
In a statement shared on his Instagram account, Wilson expressed the distress caused by the incident, emphasizing the sentimental value attached to the stolen possessions. He reported the matter to the police and urged anyone with information to come forward to aid the investigation or report any sightings of the stolen items.
As a consequence of Wilson’s withdrawal, Pinhey, Dylan Emery, and Michal Szubarczyk received walkovers in the tournament. Wilson will next participate in the Shanghai Masters commencing on July 27. Additionally, it was recently announced that Wilson, a former world No2, will participate in a snooker exhibition event in October to raise funds for the BeMoreFab charity.
The event, organized by TWSportsManagement’s Taylor Wilson, will feature Kyren, Stuart Bingham, Joe O’Connor, and Louis Heathcote. Wilson expressed his pride in supporting the charity and encouraged others to join in raising funds for the BeMoreFab Children’s Cancer Charity.
