Shoppers are being encouraged to input their Nectar details before making purchases from Sainsbury’s via the Uber Eats platform.
In a significant extension of the loyalty program, individuals can now earn one Nectar point for every pound spent on qualifying Sainsbury’s items through the Uber Eats app or website.
To ensure they receive points, shoppers must enter their complete Nectar card number during checkout, as points cannot be added retrospectively.
The new collection feature is accessible at participating Sainsbury’s outlets on Uber Eats, with over 1,300 locations nationwide included in the expanded rollout.
This initiative allows customers utilizing the quick delivery service for fresh groceries, household essentials, or last-minute buys to accumulate rewards on their orders.
Upon adding a Nectar card, eligible points will be credited to the customer’s account within 28 days, with a minimum spend requirement of one pound.
Certain products are exempt from earning points, such as gift vouchers, baby formula, lottery tickets, tobacco, vape products, medications, spirits, and liqueurs. Different regulations apply to alcohol purchases in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
The launch builds upon the existing collaboration between Nectar and Uber, where members can convert points into vouchers for Uber trips and Uber Eats purchases.
Therefore, customers can amass Nectar points when purchasing Sainsbury’s groceries through Uber Eats and later exchange their balance for an Uber voucher.
To redeem points, members should access the Nectar app, navigate to the “Partners” section, and select Uber. Katie Hunter, Uber Eats’ general manager for grocery and retail in the UK, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting the added convenience and value for customers.
Mark Given, Sainsbury’s chief technology, marketing, and data officer, noted that this expansion provides Nectar members with another avenue to benefit from the partnership, enhancing their overall experience.
Individuals interested in accumulating points must choose groceries from a participating Sainsbury’s store via Uber Eats and input their Nectar card number before finalizing the transaction.
