Serena Williams is set to join forces with Carlos Alcaraz for a formidable mixed doubles partnership as she makes her comeback to the U.S. Open. The U.S. Tennis Association revealed on Saturday that Williams and Alcaraz had secured a wild card entry into the tournament’s mixed doubles main draw, scheduled to kick off on Tuesday.
This marks Williams’ first appearance at the U.S. Open since 2022, following her return to tennis earlier this summer. While it remains uncertain whether Williams will participate in the singles event in New York, the USTA has reserved a women’s wild card spot for her if she decides to compete. Notably, Williams competed in singles at Wimbledon and teamed up with her sister Venus for doubles at the Cincinnati Open.
In a separate development, Alcaraz announced his intention to defend his U.S. Open singles title after a hiatus due to a right wrist injury that kept him out of action since April.
