Saudi Arabia on High Alert for Coordinated Attacks

Saudi Arabian officials are preparing for potential coordinated attacks from different directions amid escalating tensions in the Middle East. The forthcoming attacks are expected to be orchestrated by Iraqi militias and Yemeni Houthis, both under the supervision of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The heightened state of alert in the oil-rich nation is due to concerns about possible strikes targeting critical infrastructure.

Saudi Arabia maintains a close relationship with the United States, as demonstrated by their joint airstrikes on Iranian-supported groups in Iraq. US President Donald Trump recently expressed optimism that the conflict with Iran may conclude soon, following a suspension of military actions to facilitate peace negotiations. American military officials have indicated that a significant portion of their precision long-range missiles has been utilized.

An official conveyed to CNN that there are indications of potential attacks coming from both the northern and southern fronts, primarily targeting civilian and economic facilities such as energy installations, ports, and airports. Recent hostilities between Saudi Arabia and Yemen have escalated, with Yemeni Houthis claiming responsibility for various assaults on Saudi vessels and military sites. Incidents in Najran, near the Yemeni border, resulted in civilian casualties, with the rebels also launching attacks in Yemen that resulted in casualties among government troops.

Saudi Arabia has retaliated by targeting military sites in Yemen, particularly in response to Houthi actions. The countries were previously engaged in a military coalition against the Houthis, culminating in 2022 amidst humanitarian challenges. Additionally, a joint defense agreement is set to be signed between Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan. A separate shelling incident in Saudi territory has been attributed to the Houthis by a Saudi-led military coalition supporting Yemen’s official government.

The situation underscores the ongoing regional tensions and the complex geopolitical dynamics at play in the Middle East.
