“Russia Resumes Kyiv Attacks, 2 Dead, 10 Injured”

Russia launched drone and missile attacks on Kyiv early Tuesday, resuming air strikes after a pause for U.S. peace negotiators’ visit. The assault resulted in two fatalities, injuries to 10 individuals, and fires spreading across the Ukrainian capital according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko. The bombings damaged numerous high-rise buildings, a dormitory, a school, a clinic, warehouses, and other structures. The attacks recommenced after U.S. envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff departed Kyiv following discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday, as part of efforts to end the long-standing conflict in Ukraine. Amid the intensified air assaults on Kyiv and its vicinity, Russia targeted military and logistical sites in Kyiv, the surrounding region, and the Black Sea port of Chornomorsk. Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha condemned the attacks, emphasizing the need for increased international pressure on Moscow and the provision of interceptors to counter ballistic missiles due to Kyiv’s depleting supplies. Kyiv residents, such as 61-year-old Iryna Barisenkova, described the harrowing experience of hearing explosions and witnessing fires in the city. Additionally, Poland initiated preventive measures against potential Russian missile strikes on Ukraine, leading to the temporary suspension of flights at Lublin airport. Meanwhile, Ukrainian drones reportedly caused damage and casualties in Saratov, Russia, while a Ukrainian attack on the Crimean peninsula resulted in two deaths and one injury, as confirmed by regional governor Sergei Aksyonov.
