More than 180 regions are expected to experience rainfall on Tuesday, interrupting the sunny summer weather across the country temporarily.
The Met Office has predicted showers in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland on Tuesday, with most parts of England also likely to see rain.
According to the forecast issued on Monday, outbreaks of heavy rain are expected in the north with a chance of thunderstorms, while scattered showers are forecasted in the south with occasional thunderstorms. The day will be very warm and humid, particularly in the north where it will be windy.
Despite the rain, temperatures will remain high in drier regions like the southeast, where it could reach 28C. Weather experts anticipate that the wet weather will be followed by sunny conditions.
The Met Office’s forecast mentioned an unsettled pattern in the north over the next few days, with rain or showers expected. Showers are also forecasted in the south initially, but conditions are expected to become drier by Thursday.
Weather maps indicate that rain will affect 181 council areas nationwide, including all regions in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
In England, 116 out of 153 council areas are likely to experience some form of precipitation. The heaviest rain is predicted in the afternoon in northern England, with over 32mm of rain expected in the Yorkshire Dales and Lancashire.
Heavy rain is also expected in locations like Cornwall, Devon, Newcastle, and the Scottish Borders on Tuesday evening. The rain will come in the form of a cloud band moving northeast, followed by scattered showers.
Temperatures will be typical for August, with Belfast at 23C, Cardiff and Manchester at 25C, Edinburgh at 20C, and London experiencing warmer weather at 28C.
