Prince William rode a London bus today to showcase the global impact of his Earthshot Prize. Accompanied by environmentalist Robert Irwin, son of the late Steve Irwin, they traveled on a specially-branded electric double decker through London streets.
The duo, along with two young climate activists, took the 3,000th bus in the Transport for London fleet to London’s Guildhall for the Earthshot Prize Impact Assembly. The awards aim to promote innovative solutions to climate change and environmental issues, offering £5 million in prize money annually for the next decade.
During the event, Prince William expressed optimism about the progress made by the Earthshot Prize, highlighting the positive impact of supporting 75 finalists and awarding £25 million. He emphasized the importance of collective action to address the challenges ahead.
The prince also engaged in discussions with young campaigners during the bus journey, demonstrating his commitment to addressing environmental issues. Additionally, he urged tech company CEOs to take leadership roles in combating climate change at a recent conference.
At London Climate Action Week, Prince William convened a forum with major tech leaders to pledge an end to wildlife trafficking on their platforms. He stressed the need for continued efforts to protect the environment and wildlife, calling for ambitious actions from global business leaders.
Joining forces with actors Emma Watson and Benedict Cumberbatch, Prince William emphasized the importance of bold actions in safeguarding the environment. The event showcased a united front in the fight against climate change and wildlife degradation.
