Tens of thousands of music enthusiasts flocked to Great Park in Irvine, California, during the weekend to enjoy live performances by their favorite artists. This was part of a groundbreaking event aimed at supporting women’s health, reproductive rights, and combating gender-based violence.
The Daisy Chain Fields charity festival, organized by pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo, emulated the pioneering Lilith Fair from the 1990s by featuring an all-female lineup. The festival showcased a mix of both new and seasoned stars, including queer pop artist Chappell Roan, rapper Doechii, and iconic punk and rock bands like Bikini Kill and Garbage.
Before the festival’s kickoff, Rodrigo revealed that a remarkable $10 million had been raised for the event’s ten non-profit partners, such as Planned Parenthood and the National Institute for Reproductive Health. Melinda French Gates then matched this amount, bringing the total funds raised to $20 million.
Rodrigo’s announcement of the festival back in June highlighted that all participating artists performed for free, with proceeds directed to charities supporting women and girls. The event featured special guest appearances, including Alanis Morissette filling in for Karen O, and a performance of “Landslide” with Stevie Nicks.
