The lawsuit, filed in California and reported by CBC News, alleges that Keren Urinov threatened to falsely implicate Morrisette in drug trafficking to British authorities unless Morrisette agreed to employ her as a tour director for 15 years and provide substantial compensation.
Morrisette is pursuing charges of civil extortion, fraud, and negligent misrepresentation against Urinov. She asserts that she will not succumb to blackmail and is determined to expose and hold Urinov accountable for her actions.
Urinov, previously affiliated with Live Nation’s Israeli operations, was engaged as a temporary tour manager for Morrisette’s global tour in 2025. An incident at an airport in the U.K. involving the discovery of drugs in Urinov’s possession led to her arrest and subsequent release after presenting her medical marijuana license.
Following the tour’s conclusion, Urinov allegedly resorted to sending threatening letters demanding a long-term contract with substantial financial benefits from Morrisette. The lawsuit highlights instances during the tour where Urinov’s management was deemed inadequate, including costly errors and withholding information about her past involvement in criminal activities.
Morrisette, despite reluctance, felt compelled to take legal action against Urinov to prevent further coercion and financial demands. She is now seeking a trial by jury to address the situation.
