A tragic incident at West Mersea Beach has left a teenage girl and her mother dead, while a young boy remains critically injured, Essex Police confirmed. Sameeha Rahman, 15, her mother Shelina Rahman, 41, and seven-year-old Musa Ahmed, along with three other family members, encountered difficulties in the water on July 22.
Despite their efforts to assist each other, Sameeha and Shelina lost their lives, with Musa being airlifted to the hospital in critical condition. Additional family members were also hospitalized but are now recovering.
Detective Chief Inspector Al Pitcher, leading the investigation, expressed support for the grieving family and emphasized ongoing inquiries to determine the circumstances leading to the tragedy. The police have engaged with key witnesses and are collaborating with various agencies.
