The Montreal Roses terminated their inaugural head coach, Robert Rositoiu, a day after being eliminated from the W Canadian Championship. Marinette Pichon, the club’s sporting director, announced the decision in a press release on Thursday, expressing gratitude to Rositoiu for establishing the foundation of the professional women’s soccer team during its early stages.
While acknowledging the difficulty of parting ways with a coach, Pichon emphasized the necessity of injecting new energy to navigate the rest of the season and propel the club’s growth. The Roses currently hold the second position in the Northern Super League (NSL) with 27 points, and they have 10 matches remaining in the regular season.
Robert Rositoiu took on the role of head coach in September 2024 in preparation for the Roses’ debut season in the NSL in 2025. As the club seeks a permanent replacement for Rositoiu, Maryse Bard-Martel, the team’s former first assistant coach and head of goalkeeping, will step in as the interim head coach. Bard-Martel will lead the team in their upcoming match against AFC Toronto.
