“Miracle in Venezuela: Boy Rescued After 6 Days”

A young boy, aged three, was rescued alive from the debris six days after the tragic earthquake in Venezuela, sparking a moment of optimism. A team from Jordan erupted in celebration as they successfully extracted the child, identified as Klieber Morán by the country’s interim president.

Delcy Rodríguez hailed the boy’s rescue as a beacon of hope amidst the disaster. Meanwhile, the United Nations has issued warnings of a critical need for food and shelter for tens of thousands affected by the calamity.

Following the rescue, the Jordanian civil defense team provided immediate medical assistance to Klieber, ensuring his stable condition before transferring him to a hospital in Caracas, as reported by the BBC. The death toll has now risen to 1,943, with over 10,000 individuals sustaining injuries from the powerful earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale.

Venezuelan Assembly President Jorge Rodríguez highlighted the significance of Klieber’s rescue, emphasizing the ongoing search efforts to locate other survivors. Satellite data analysis from NASA revealed extensive damage to approximately 58,870 structures due to the tremors.

Experts cautioned that the first three days post-earthquake were crucial for finding survivors, prompting local communities in heavily impacted areas like La Guaira to initiate rescue missions independently. The UNHCR raised concerns over escalating tensions and restricted access to aid in the region, while the WHO warned of strained healthcare services and heightened risks of disease outbreaks.

Days earlier, a father and his son were also rescued from a collapsed building in La Guaira after a lengthy operation involving over 2,600 international rescue workers and specialized search dogs. International aid is pouring into Venezuela, with a 47-tonne shipment of essential supplies arriving to support the country in its time of crisis.

Despite ongoing aftershocks, relief efforts continue unabated as Venezuela grapples with the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes.
