“Man Barred from Hospital for Threatening Arson”

A man has been barred from a hospital for three years after making threats to set the facility on fire and repeatedly intimidating staff. Andrew Stonier, aged 31, targeted employees at Royal Oldham Hospital in Greater Manchester with severe abuse and threats, as confirmed by Oldham Council.

To safeguard NHS staff at the hospital until June 2029, the local authority pursued a criminal behaviour order (CBO) against the individual. This order, prevalent in England and Wales, is aimed at addressing serious and persistent offenders engaged in anti-social conduct.

The decision to impose the CBO followed a series of incidents where the offender menaced nurses and hospital staff, including threats of arson. This disruptive behavior led to the wastage of staff time and resources, according to Oldham Council.

Under the terms of the court order, the man is prohibited from entering Royal Oldham Hospital until June 28, 2029, except for specific circumstances like pre-arranged appointments or emergency medical needs. Any violation of the order will result in arrest.

Stonier is mandated by the court order to stay away from Royal Oldham Hospital’s clinical areas, wards, departments, A&E, and outpatient facilities. He can only visit the hospital for scheduled appointments, leaving 30 minutes before and after. An exception is made for cases requiring genuine emergency medical treatment.

Any breach of the CBO conditions could lead to further legal action and potential court reappearance, as reported by Manchester Evening News. An Oldham Council spokesperson strongly condemned the individual’s unacceptable behavior towards dedicated NHS staff, emphasizing the commitment to taking action against those causing harm or disruption in the community.
