“King Charles and Queen Join Dorset Brewery Celebrations”

During a visit to a Dorset brewery, King Charles expressed his sentiments following England’s defeat to Argentina by saying it was a suitable time to drown sorrows while pulling a pint of beer. The Queen joined him behind the bar at Hall and Woodhouse brewery near Blandford Forum, receiving applause and cheers. Charles, guided by Toby Heasman, the company’s head brewer, was playfully urged to pour the pint faster as Camilla assisted. Despite some initial spills, Charles successfully pulled a pint of ‘Fursty Ferret’, a 3.4% brew, earning praise from the brewery staff.

The royal couple also unveiled a plaque commemorating the brewery’s 250th anniversary. They learned about the brewery’s longstanding family ownership, now in its 9th generation, from Anthony Woodhouse, 61, and his son Matt, 34. Additionally, they met with representatives from Teddy Rocks, a music festival supported by the brewery, raising funds for children’s cancer charities.

Later, at the Corn Exchange in Blandford Forum, the King and Queen explored stalls showcasing various Dorset charities. The historic Grade I Listed building recently underwent renovations, including the restoration of a George II royal Coat of Arms. The couple engaged with charities supporting veterans, prison services, community aid, faith groups, and more in the local area.

As they departed, the Queen was presented with a bouquet and met the 9th generation of the brewery’s family. The visit concluded with a tour of the Corn Exchange, a significant landmark in the riverside market town.
