International team captain Geoff Ogilvy has selected Corey Conners from Listowel, Ontario, and Nick Taylor from Abbotsford, British Columbia, to join the upcoming Presidents Cup. This marks the first time since 1998 that the International team will feature two Japanese players, with Hideki Matsuyama securing one of the six automatic spots.
In a surprising move, Jackson Koivun has been added to the U.S. team for the Presidents Cup, just months after departing Auburn. Koivun, who clinched victory at the 3M Open in only his third professional start and made it to the PGA Tour postseason after five tournaments, becomes the first player since Jordan Spieth in 2013 to begin a year without a tour card and compete in the prestigious event.
U.S. captain Brandt Snedeker has also chosen Jacob Bridgeman, the winner at Riviera this year, for the team. Despite his strong performance, Snedeker opted not to select Ryan Gerard, ranked No. 22 globally, who had a notable showing at the Tour Championship, finishing in third place.
The Presidents Cup is scheduled to take place from September 24-27 at Medinah, a course that has undergone a complete renovation by Ogilvy’s golf course design company based in Australia.
