Amelia Dimoldenberg, the host of the widely popular YouTube talk show “Chicken Shop Date,” has announced the closure of her show after over a decade of entertaining audiences with interviews featuring movie stars, musicians, and athletes over some fried chicken.
In an Instagram post, Dimoldenberg expressed her gratitude to her followers for joining her on this journey, stating that while she initially believed “Chicken Shop Date” would be a lasting part of her life, she now feels it’s time to embark on new adventures.
The show, which began 12 years ago with interviews of musicians in the UK’s underground rap scene, has since grown to include conversations with celebrities such as Keke Palmer, Conan O’Brien, Paul McCartney, and Jack Harlow, accumulating nearly 3.5 million subscribers on her YouTube channel.
“Chicken Shop Date” features Dimoldenberg engaging in casual, flirty, and sometimes awkward conversations with guests at fried chicken shops in London, creating a relaxed and humorous atmosphere more akin to a first date than a traditional talk show interview.
Among the notable interviews are those with Andrew Garfield, where playful flirting ensued, and Ryan Reynolds, who hilariously mistook a character name from his wife Blake Lively’s role on “Gossip Girl.” Shania Twain also made an appearance, revealing she had never met Brad Pitt despite referencing him in her song “That Don’t Impress Me Much.”
Dimoldenberg’s success on YouTube has opened doors for her, including opportunities like interviewing Hudson Williams at the Oscars. While her future plans remain undisclosed, she is reportedly developing a young adult drama series for the BBC.
As she bids farewell to “Chicken Shop Date,” Dimoldenberg promised her fans a few final dates before concluding the show for good.
