An individual wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in Niagara Falls on July 16 has been apprehended in Montreal and is set to be extradited to the Ontario city.
The suspect, Josta MacNeal, was arrested by the Service de police de la Ville de Montreal on Thursday for her alleged involvement in the death of 35-year-old Mitchell Snoddon, as announced by the Niagara Regional Police Service. MacNeal is facing a charge of second-degree murder.
Previously reported as 30 years old, MacNeal was taken into custody, while the other suspect, Maaroof Bangi, who was identified as 23 years old, remains at large.
Since no firearm has been found, law enforcement officials have classified Bangi as armed and dangerous.
A police news release advised the public not to approach Bangi if sighted and to contact 911 immediately.
The police have urged Bangi to seek legal counsel and surrender himself.
In the initial press statement, Niagara police mentioned that the two suspects visited an apartment complex on Thorold Stone Road in Niagara Falls just before 9 p.m. ET on July 16 and fatally shot Snoddon.
Targeted Nature of the Shooting
Authorities believe the shooting was a targeted incident rather than a random act, but are advising caution to the public.
Earlier, Niagara police released surveillance footage of the two suspects and appealed to the community for any information regarding their whereabouts.
The suspects were initially reported to be driving a Nissan Rogue SUV from 2022-2026.
At one point, the fugitives were said to be in a 2016 Toyota Camry with a damaged windshield and passenger side front and rear doors, last seen on Highway 45 in Hastings, Ont.

Prior to this, authorities had recovered a Mazda CX5, believed to have been used by the suspects. Detectives suspect that the individuals may attempt to change their appearance, including altering hair length and color, makeup, clothing, and facial hair, to avoid detection.
