Firefighters are currently engaged in extinguishing a fire at an adventure play park located in the West Midlands. Authorities have cautioned the public to avoid Meriden Park in Chelmsley Wood this evening.
The West Midlands Fire Service issued a warning to the public just before 8:30 pm today (August 1) about the ongoing blaze. Four firefighting crews are present at the scene battling a fire amidst the trees at this well-known park, as reported by BirminghamLive.
In an official statement, the West Midlands Fire Service stated, “We have deployed four crews to Meriden Park in Chelmsley Wood, Solihull, where they are tackling a fire within the trees. It is advised to steer clear of the area, if possible.”
Meriden Adventure Playground, besides featuring a sizable natural lake and woodland, serves as a prominent adventure play facility with amenities such as a children’s play area, skate park, and football pitch. Operated by an independent charity, the playground hosts various community events throughout the year and attracts many visitors, especially during school holidays.
