“Father and Child Rescued from Venezuela Quake Rubble”

A man and his child were rescued alive from the debris of a collapsed building in Venezuela, four days after twin earthquakes hit the country. The dramatic rescue operation took place in La Guaira, a coastal region severely impacted by the recent seismic events.

The death toll has risen to over 1,450, with numerous individuals sustaining injuries. Despite the challenges, search and rescue teams are tirelessly working to locate survivors, as thousands are still unaccounted for.

Before successfully extracting the father and son, emergency responders took precautions, including setting up intravenous drips and meticulously combing through nearby collapsed structures for any signs of life. Specialized search cameras aided in pinpointing their location under the unstable rubble.

An official from the French Civil Security mentioned that the rescued pair was in a frail state due to their prolonged entrapment. The extraction process, conducted with caution, involved hydration and medication administration to ensure their well-being.

The joint effort of French Civil Security personnel and the Fairfax County Urban Search and Rescue Team from the United States led to the successful rescue of a mother and her infant on a previous day, both with minor injuries.

In separate operations, two 11-year-old boys, including one named Moises, were also freed from the debris, receiving applause from the rescue teams. The international collaboration now involves over 2,600 rescue workers from various countries and nearly 140 specialized search dogs, aiding in the search efforts.

Despite ongoing aftershocks, the rescue mission continues as a sense of urgency persists. The disrupted communication networks have prompted many Venezuelans to seek help through digital platforms to locate missing loved ones. The uncertainty surrounding the number of individuals still missing remains a concern, with over 50,000 reported as missing on one database.

While 33 individuals were rescued over the weekend, the chances of finding more survivors diminish as the search operation progresses into its fifth day. The collective efforts of rescue teams and international aid remain crucial as the nation grapples with the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes.
