A horrifying incident unfolded as flames erupted from a bar in Thailand, claiming the lives of numerous individuals. Distressing video footage captured people emerging from the door of the Bangkok bar as flames raged inside on Sunday.
Regrettably, this fire has been deemed the deadliest event in recent years in the Thai capital. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul confirmed the recovery of 27 bodies at the scene, with an additional 22 individuals in critical condition after the tragic incident at the Rong Beer Na Lat Phrao bar.
Witnesses observed a group gathered at an outdoor bar before thick smoke suddenly billowed from the building’s entrance. Subsequently, flames engulfed the doorway, prompting a chaotic evacuation as people tried to flee amid the intense heat and black smoke.
In a valiant effort, a man wielded a fire extinguisher to combat the blaze before emergency services intervened. The aftermath revealed charred furniture and a damaged interior, with many patrons seeking refuge in bathrooms at the rear of the bar where several casualties were discovered.
Reportedly, 63 people sustained injuries in the fire, attributed to a possible short circuit in an air conditioner. The venue, Rong Beer Na Lat Phrao, is a popular live music spot in the Chatuchak suburb of northern Bangkok, frequented mainly by Thai nationals aged between 25 and 50.
