The final touches are being completed ahead of this summer’s Wimbledon tournament. Workers at the renowned tennis venue were seen cleaning, uncovering courts, and tending to plants in preparation for the influx of spectators expected over the next fortnight. The 2026 Championships are scheduled to commence on Monday and will conclude on Sunday, July 12.
Tomorrow, tennis enthusiasts visiting the site will witness the commencement of the gentlemen’s and ladies’ singles first round matches. Among the notable players set to compete are Emma Raducanu from the UK, Naomi Osaka from Japan, Novak Djokovic from Serbia, and men’s top seed Jannik Sinner.
In Wimbledon Park, numerous tents have already been erected as eager fans without tickets camp overnight in hopes of securing entry for the opening day. Meanwhile, concerns have arisen regarding Emma Raducanu’s participation in the championships following observations of her with a leg strap. The 23-year-old, plagued by past injuries, had to curtail a training session yesterday due to a right foot injury.
Activity such as staff revealing Court 2, cleaning of the Wimbledon logo on Centre Court, and watering of garden beds outside Centre Court has been underway in preparation for the championship. Additionally, ticketless fans have begun setting up camp in Wimbledon Park to queue overnight for tickets. Maintenance tasks like mopping and sweeping at the entrance to Centre Court are also in progress. Photos also captured Emma Raducanu with a leg strap during a training session and sitting on a court during practice.
