An Air Force aircraft from Chile was engulfed in flames following a crash, prompting a search effort for the two pilots onboard. The incident occurred in the Coquimbo region where the Pillán T-35 plane went down earlier today.
According to local reports, the aircraft departed from El Bosque Air Base in Santiago and was en route to Antofagasta when it encountered engine trouble about 20 miles from La Serena. Subsequently, the plane crashed and caught fire, but remarkably, both pilots managed to survive.
Images depict the wreckage of the aircraft in El Maray, a town situated in the Quebrada Honda region, where the fire broke out. The fire service confirmed that the pilots safely evacuated the plane.
Emergency service teams swiftly initiated a search operation upon receiving news of the crash, successfully locating the aircraft and confirming the pilots’ good health.
An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the crash.
