The Canadian women’s basketball team concluded the group stage of the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament with a 70-64 victory over Mexico in Guadalajara on Thursday evening. Yvonne Ejim led the team with 19 points, contributing to Canada’s undefeated record of 3-0, while Syla Swords added 17 points to the scoreboard. Mariana Valenzuela scored 17 points for Mexico.
In the upcoming semifinals on Saturday, Canada is scheduled to face New Zealand, while the host team will compete against Brazil. The tournament’s final match is slated for Sunday. The winner of the tournament will secure a spot in one of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments in February 2028.
