A tragic incident unfolded as a young beauty queen lost her life in a heartbreaking accident involving her own vehicle while unloading items during winter, according to information revealed during an inquest today.
The victim, identified as Eleisha Skinner, a 21-year-old student at Buckinghamshire New University, met with the fatal incident on January 4 in High Wycombe. She had parked her black Audi A1 and was unloading the car when it unexpectedly moved, trapping her against a wall outside her accommodation.
Emergency services were alerted by a resident who heard distressing sounds and discovered Ms. Skinner unconscious at the scene. The slippery, icy conditions on the sloped driveway were highlighted as a significant factor by the senior coroner, leading to the unfortunate event.
Despite efforts to save her, Ms. Skinner passed away on January 8 at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. The absence of safety measures like salted or gritted surfaces and protective railings on the driveway raised concerns during the inquest.
The accommodation owners, Howarth Property, have since taken steps to enhance safety by installing railings following the incident. However, a prevention of future deaths report was issued to the property firm, emphasizing the need for further actions to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
An examination revealed that the young beauty queen succumbed to anoxic brain injury due to asphyxia compression. Fond memories and heartfelt tributes poured in for Ms. Skinner, describing her as a kind, selfless, and vibrant individual who touched the lives of many with her positive presence.
Buckinghamshire New University plans to posthumously award Ms. Skinner a BSc degree with honors in social work as a tribute to her dedication and promising future in the field.
