“Alinea Furniture Brand Rescued from Liquidation, Set for Revival”

After facing a collapse earlier this year, a furniture retailer is now poised for a comeback following a successful rescue from liquidation. The European furniture brand Alinea will be revitalized thanks to the acquisition of its brand and operating rights by MH France, a subsidiary of the Chinese e-commerce group Aosom. This acquisition, approved by French courts on July 9, 2026, was officially announced by MH France’s CEO Emmanuel Benichou on July 11.

Expressing his delight on LinkedIn, Benichou highlighted the cultural significance of Alinea, stating that the brand has deeply influenced French furniture and decoration trends since its establishment in 1988. He revealed plans for the re-launch, including the imminent reopening of Alinea’s online store and the establishment of a franchise-based retail network. The new strategy aims to maintain Alinea’s unique identity by blending French and European design elements with imported products.

Following a period of financial struggles, Alinea underwent liquidation in March, culminating in the closure of all 36 stores and the loss of approximately 1,200 jobs. Despite initial setbacks and the rejection of a takeover bid, MH France’s intervention has breathed new life into the brand. Benichou emphasized the importance of this opportunity and urged customers to stay tuned for updates as Alinea embarks on its revival journey. He also cautioned against potential scams targeting eager consumers during the brand’s re-emergence.

MH France is a prominent player in e-commerce, operating across various online marketplaces under multiple brand names.
