“British Columbia Municipal Elections: Get Out and Vote!”

This Saturday marks the general voting day for municipal elections in British Columbia. Voters will have the opportunity to select their local elected representatives from a pool of approximately 3,500 candidates across the province’s 162 municipalities and 27 regional districts. Polling stations will be operational from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time.

To participate in the election, voters must be at least 18 years old, Canadian citizens residing in B.C. for a minimum of six months, and residents of the municipality where they are voting. Many voters have already received voter information cards detailing their designated voting locations. Additionally, information on polling places can be found on the respective municipality or regional district websites.

Individuals who are not registered to vote can do so at the polling stations but will need to present two forms of identification. CBC News will provide real-time coverage post-election, with a live broadcast starting at 8 p.m. PT. The broadcast will feature hosts Lien Yeung and Stephen Quinn, accompanied by CBC municipal affairs reporter Justin McElroy for local insights and analysis. Regional perspectives will be shared by hosts Jason D’Souza in Victoria and Chris Walker in Kelowna.

For those interested in watching or listening to the coverage, the options include online streaming on CBC Gem and YouTube, as well as on cbc.ca/bc. TV viewers can tune in to CBC Television (local channel listings apply), while radio coverage will be available on CBC Radio One in Vancouver at 88.1 FM or online.
