Selma Blair, a well-known actress, was apprehended following a flight from Los Angeles to New York for alleged physical aggression towards and causing injury to two flight attendants, officials reported on Monday.
The incident occurred late Sunday night as the Delta Air Lines aircraft was stationed at New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport, according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Both Blair, aged 54, and one of the flight attendants were transported to a hospital for assessment, the port authority confirmed.
An investigation is currently underway by the FBI, as stated in the official announcement. Requests for comments from the FBI, as well as state and federal prosecutors’ offices in New York, were unanswered at the time of reporting.
No immediate response was received from the airline in regards to the incident. Blair’s publicist could not be reached for comment when contacted.
A representative for Blair mentioned in statements to various media sources that she experienced a medical emergency that may have contributed to the alleged behavior.
Selma Blair, known for her roles in popular films like “Cruel Intentions” (1999), “Legally Blonde” (2001), and “Hellboy” (2004), has been an active supporter of disability rights, especially after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2018. In 2023, she participated in an event at the White House with then-president Joe Biden to mark the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
