The Canadians on board were Philip Gregory Childerhose, Thomas Henry Farquhar, Sarah Jane Paton, and Jolene Beth Weir, while the two Bermudians were Marilyn Lavonne Bean and Sergio Wayne Lottimore.
Rear Adm. Matthew Lake, Commander of the U.S. Coast Guard Northeast District, extended condolences to the affected families and friends in light of the tragic incident. The Coast Guard acknowledged the efforts of responding crews and partner agencies and pledged ongoing support to Canadian authorities leading the investigation.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada will spearhead the inquiry, as confirmed by the Coast Guard. The air ambulance was en route from Bermuda to Boston when it vanished, prompting extensive search operations that were halted by the Coast Guard on Sunday evening.
Latitude Air Ambulance, the company operating the aircraft, expressed deep sorrow over the transition from search and rescue to recovery efforts. The company stated that the missing individuals, including four of its team members and a patient with their family escort, are presumed to have perished.
