The Atlanta Dream secured a spot in the WNBA playoffs semifinals for the first time since 2018 with a 93-75 victory over the Washington Mystics in Game 2 of their first-round series. Allisha Gray led the Dream with 22 points, while Jordin Canada stepped up with 19 points, including 13 in the fourth quarter.
After facing first-round eliminations in the past three seasons, Atlanta will face New York in Game 1 of the semifinals. New York made history as the first No. 8 seed to eliminate a No. 1 seed in the league’s 30-year history by sweeping Minnesota.
Canada’s impressive performance included back-to-back 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, extending Atlanta’s lead to 89-70 with less than three minutes remaining. She also contributed 11 assists and seven rebounds. Rhyne Howard and Angel Reese both scored 15 points, with Naz Hillmon adding 10 points for the Dream.
On the Mystics’ side, Sonia Citron led with 25 points, followed by Kiki Iriafen with a double-double of 15 points and 16 rebounds, making franchise history for Washington. Despite a strong effort in the third quarter, the Mystics fell short to Atlanta’s dominant run, losing 78-62.
Washington had not appeared in the playoffs since winning the 2019 WNBA championship, marking a significant return to the postseason for the team.
