Phoenix Suns’ Dillon Brooks, a native of Mississauga, Ontario, faces a DUI charge following his arrest in March by Scottsdale, Arizona police. Records indicate a court appearance scheduled for Oct. 28 for the misdemeanor offense.
Stacey Mitch, Suns’ senior vice president of communications, acknowledged the charge, stating it relates to the March incident. The team has discussed the issue with Brooks but refrained from further comment.
Brooks was apprehended during a traffic stop around 1 a.m. on March 6 and subsequently taken into custody after an investigation. Released from jail at approximately 3:30 a.m., the 30-year-old, recovering from a fractured left hand, achieved a career-best 20.2 points per game last season. He recently signed a $73 million three-year extension, binding him to the team until 2030.
Apart from his NBA commitments, Brooks represents the Canadian national team and participated in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Additionally, he faces misdemeanor charges for reckless driving and speeding from a separate January arrest, with a court date set for Nov. 9.
