“Canadian Women’s Volleyball Team Qualifies for Olympics After 26 Years”

The Canadian women’s volleyball squad secured a spot in the Olympics for the first time in 26 years after defeating the Dominican Republic with a 3-1 victory (25-15, 20-25, 25-23, 25-14) in the NORCECA Continental Qualifier final in Santo Domingo. Kiera Van Ryk and Alexa Gray from Canada emerged as the top scorers, each contributing 22 points to help the team secure a place in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Earlier in the week, Canada clinched its maiden NORCECA women’s continental championship title by sweeping through the tournament with a flawless 5-0 record. The Canadian women’s team had last participated in the Olympics in 1996, finishing in a joint ninth place at the Atlanta Games.
