“Russian Forces Launch Ballistic Missiles and Drones on Ukrainian Cities”

Russian forces launched a significant attack on Ukrainian ports, industrial areas, and retailers’ distribution centers using missiles and drones in Kyiv and other cities, Ukrainian officials reported on Thursday. Commuters in the capital city witnessed air defense systems firing at drones following an overnight assault, which included ballistic missiles and 258 drones, according to the Ukrainian military.

Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that Russia targeted various infrastructure, including ports, grain storage, energy facilities, and industry, using ballistic missiles and combat drones. The Ukrainian military successfully intercepted seven ballistic missiles, an improved rate attributed to the recent acquisition of U.S.-made Patriot interceptors.

The limited supply of these interceptors has left Ukraine vulnerable to Russia’s ongoing air campaign. In response, Russia reported being targeted as well, with a drone attack temporarily shutting down an online retailer’s logistics complex in Ufa.

Allies, including Britain, pledged support to Ukraine, offering classified technology for the production of Storm Shadow cruise missiles. Meanwhile, Moscow issued a warning that it could target British military sites inside and outside Ukraine in retaliation for Ukrainian strikes using British weapons.

Air-raid sirens continued to sound in Kyiv as attack drones flew over neighborhoods, causing injuries. In Kharkiv, one person died and two were injured in an attack on a shopping center. Ukrainian retailers and companies, including COMFY and a leading toy manufacturer, reported the destruction of distribution centers, while Roshen, a prominent chocolate company, confirmed the loss of a warehouse near Kyiv.

Russian strikes also hit industrial sites, energy facilities, and infrastructure in various regions, disrupting train services and stranding passengers. Additionally, Russian drones breached Moldova’s airspace, leading to condemnation from Moldovan President Maia Sandu.

The situation remains tense as both sides engage in escalating hostilities.
