Nova Scotia Native Logan Taylor Rises as NFL Lineman

Before Logan Taylor turned 10 years old, he was already towering over his soccer opponents at over six feet tall. Taylor, now 24 and hailing from Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, recalls standing out for his size and physical play on the field. His journey to becoming a professional football player started when a local coach spotted his potential and encouraged him to join a football team. Since then, Taylor has excelled in the sport, culminating in his current endeavor as a 6’7″ and 312-pound offensive lineman for the NFL’s Los Angeles Chargers.

Growing up in a small seaside community, Taylor’s path to the NFL led him to various locations like Timberlea, N.S., Virginia, and Massachusetts in pursuit of his dream. Despite Nova Scotia’s reputation for producing hockey stars, Taylor is among the few born-and-raised Nova Scotians who have played in an NFL regular-season game. His dedication to football prompted him to move to Timberlea for high school due to the absence of a football program in Bridgewater, N.S.

Throughout his journey, Taylor has been supported by his “Timberlea parents,” Kathy and Brian Mason, who describe him as a gentle giant with a strong work ethic and determination. Taylor credits the Masons as two of his four parents, highlighting the impact they had on his growth and development. His commitment to his athletic pursuits led him to attend boarding school in Virginia for his senior year and pursue his post-secondary education at the University of Virginia and Boston College.

Selected in the sixth round of the NFL Draft, Taylor’s draft day moment was shared with his family in Lunenburg, where he received the life-changing call from the Chargers. Now immersed in the NFL world, Taylor embraces the challenges and demands of professional football, pushing himself to secure a spot on the Chargers’ active roster among stiff competition.

As Taylor navigates life in Los Angeles, he finds solace in the city’s amenities but misses his rural interests like four-wheeling, hunting, and fishing. Despite the allure of the city life, Taylor remains focused on his football career, aware of the dedication required to succeed in the competitive league. His ambition extends beyond personal achievements as he aims to inspire and support aspiring football players from Nova Scotia, emphasizing the importance of perseverance and hard work in pursuing their dreams.

In a recent interview, Taylor emphasized the relentless mindset needed to excel in football, a philosophy that he applies to his own journey. As he continues his path in the NFL, Taylor remains grounded, drawing motivation from his roots in Lunenburg and the unwavering support of his family and mentors.
