“DB Pridham Extends Rapid FC Contract to 2028”

Delaney Baie (DB) Pridham, an accomplished player in the Northern Super League (NSL) who secured the Golden Boot award and Player of the Year title, has prolonged her contract with Rapid FC until the 2028 season.

At 28 years old, Pridham has netted 28 goals during the NSL’s initial two seasons and has made multiple appearances with the Canadian national women’s team. She is anticipated to be part of the squad this autumn as Canada aims to secure a spot in the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

Originally from Saratoga, California, Pridham, an alumna of Santa Clara University, has previously played for IBV in Iceland, as well as Kristianstads DFF and Linköpings FC in Sweden. However, she takes great pride in representing Ottawa.

Expressing her enthusiasm for the club and its future prospects under new ownership, Pridham stated, “Being involved with such a dynamic club with owners who have a clear vision for its future excites me. I am genuinely content here. Ottawa is a splendid city, and we have an ever-growing, fantastic fan base.”

Thomas Gilbert, the CEO of Rapid FC, expressed his lack of surprise regarding Pridham’s decision to remain with the club.

“We have been in discussions with her since last year,” he mentioned. “Considering DB’s exceptional drive and dedication, I was confident that if we presented her with a fair offer, she would engage in negotiations with us.”

Delaney Baie Pridham scored a late winner as Ottawa Rapid FC sealed a 2-1 victory over AFC Toronto.

The financial details of the contract extension were not disclosed.

Pridham is not the sole Canadian talent to join Ottawa. Former national team stalwart Carmelina Moscato has been appointed as Ottawa’s head coach for the upcoming season, succeeding Katrine Pederson. Moscato has coaching experience in the United States, Denmark, Mexico, and Saudi Arabia.

Moscato’s recruitment underscores the high-caliber talent being attracted to the NSL, a trend that Gilbert believes reflects the league’s quality.

“In a broader sense, this league aspires to be among the world’s best leagues,” he remarked. “The signings of players like DB and Carm demonstrate that teams and technical staff across the league are striving to achieve this goal.”

While some players may transition from the NSL to other leagues, Gilbert and NSL president Christina Litz do not view this as a major concern.
