Canada’s men’s flag football team secured a spot at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles after defeating Mexico 34-26 in the bronze-medal match at the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) world championship held in Düsseldorf, Germany. The top two finishers from both the men’s and women’s world championships were originally expected to qualify for the upcoming Olympics, marking flag football’s debut at the event. However, with the United States already guaranteed a spot as the host nation and making it to the men’s final, the top three teams in the men’s tournament clinched Olympic berths. The Canadian women’s team is set to compete against the U.S. in the world championship final.
