CBC has expanded its coverage of Canadian curling through a newly announced five-year broadcast agreement that will bring increased Grand Slam of Curling playoff coverage and all Rock League games to its platforms. The agreement with The Curling Group, unveiled on Thursday, will result in over 300 hours of combined television coverage on CBC and Sportsnet throughout the 2026-27 season.
A significant development for CBC is its involvement with Rock League. The professional league, which premiered in April, is set to return to CBC in January 2027. Every Rock League game will be accessible on CBC television and CBC Gem, with selected matches also airing on Radio-Canada’s ICI TOU.TV and Sportsnet on Thursdays and Fridays.
Rock League comprises six mixed-gender franchises featuring curlers from various countries. The upcoming second season will include events on specific weekends in January and April, with games scheduled from Thursday to Sunday.
In addition to its Rock League coverage, CBC will play a more substantial role in broadcasting the Grand Slam of Curling. Sportsnet remains the primary broadcaster for all five Grand Slam events, commencing in October. The network will broadcast three draws daily from Tuesday to Friday. On Saturdays, CBC and CBC Gem will join Sportsnet+ for playoff coverage, while Sportsnet will air the championship finals on Sundays, with CBC also featuring select finals throughout the season. Morning round-robin draws and tiebreakers from Tuesday to Saturday will continue to be streamed on Rock Channel.
This new agreement further solidifies CBC’s extensive history with curling and enhances its presence at major Canadian curling events. Chris Wilson, CBC’s executive director of sports and Olympics, expressed excitement about sharing another season of Rock League with audiences nationwide. For The Curling Group, these agreements mark a pivotal moment for both the Grand Slam and Rock League, providing them with a broader national audience.
