Three security personnel at a nightclub in downtown Winnipeg are facing assault charges following an incident where a Winnipeg Sea Bears player sustained serious injuries earlier this month, according to authorities. Teddy Allen was hospitalized after being attacked at the establishment in the early hours of August 3, as reported by the Canadian Elite Basketball League team. The individuals involved, aged 35, 37, and 58, were apprehended on Wednesday and charged with assault causing bodily harm. They have since been released on undertakings, as per a police news release issued on Thursday. Although the nightclub’s specific identity was not disclosed, it was noted to be located on Main Street, between Portage and William avenues.
In a statement released by the team on Thursday, Allen confirmed that he has undergone medical evaluations, received a diagnosis, and is currently recuperating at home. Expressing his sentiments, Allen remarked that the assault was unwarranted and should not have occurred, emphasizing that such incidents should not be tolerated. He also expressed his determination to bounce back from this adversity.
