A massive fire has erupted at an industrial site close to Dublin Airport, prompting multiple fire crews to swiftly respond to the scene. Dublin Fire Brigade has cautioned residents in the Wimbletown area of Balyboughal to shut all windows and doors due to a large plume of smoke billowing from the blaze, visible for miles around.
The brigade confirmed their awareness of the industrial fire in Wimbletown, Balyboughal, and stated that five fire engines, including a water tanker, are en route. They expressed gratitude for the 999 calls and reassured that firefighters are actively managing the situation on-site.
In a separate incident, another fire has been reported in Ashtown to the North West of the city. LiveDrive in Dublin alerted that emergency services are addressing a fire near Navan Road in Ashtown, urging caution due to visible smoke in the area.
Despite the Ballyboughal fire being 10km (approximately 6 miles) away, operations at Dublin Airport remain unaffected. RTE mentioned that AirNav Ireland, responsible for traffic control, advised pilots to be vigilant of the smoke plume during approach. However, airport operations have not been disrupted thus far.
