“Trial Set for Man Accused of Murdering Scottish Woman in Athens”

A man is set to face trial in a Greek court for the alleged murder of a Scottish woman whose body was found in a suitcase in Athens. The court date follows the release of disturbing CCTV footage showing the accused pushing the victim’s body through the streets of Athens.

Although authorities have not officially confirmed his identity, reports indicate that the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Sharif Ahmadzai from Afghanistan, is the alleged perpetrator in the case. In the footage, the man can be seen carrying the suitcase through the city center before abandoning it in an abandoned building where the victim’s body was later discovered.

Following the discovery of the victim’s remains, the suspect was detained on illegal weapons possession charges and later charged with murder. Additionally, he is accused of stealing a significant amount of money from the victim’s bank accounts using her bank cards.

Despite admitting to moving the body, the suspect has denied the murder accusations. He is also suspected of sending misleading messages from the victim’s phone to her acquaintances and purchasing another phone to further deceive people about the incident.

Authorities have identified the victim, Elisabeth Jane Ross, through fingerprint analysis, and are awaiting tissue analysis results to determine the cause of death. Both Greek and UK authorities have expressed condolences to the victim’s family and are providing support during this challenging time.
