A tragic paragliding accident in Colombia has claimed the lives of a man and a woman. Jhon Jaider Zúñiga, 27, and Marines Ussa Sarria, 31, were involved in the fatal incident while paragliding in the Farallones area of Piendamó, Cauca Department, on July 29.
Reports indicate that the pair lost control of their paraglider and crashed into a mountainside during a maneuver in the air. Witnesses observed them losing stability before falling to the ground below. Local residents quickly responded to the crash site, where rescuers transported the victims to the hospital.
Upon arrival at the hospital, Jhon was unresponsive, while Marines, who sustained severe head injuries and multiple fractures, arrived in critical condition but unfortunately passed away shortly after despite medical intervention.
Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident, considering possible factors such as equipment malfunction, pilot error, or sudden gusts of wind. It is currently unclear whether the duo was on a recreational flight or engaged in instructional activities.
