“Centenarian Poker Pro Becomes Oldest Paid Player”

A centenarian who has dedicated his life to playing poker has achieved the title of the oldest paid professional in the world. Ivor Parker, who started playing poker at the age of 14 in 1940, has accumulated 86 years of experience in the game. He emphasizes the importance of patience, resilience, strategy, and a competitive spirit for success in poker, noting that skills like composure and decision-making are timeless in the game.

Hailing from Ab Kettleby, Leicestershire, Ivor recently signed on as a full-time ambassador with GGPoker. He commenced his ambassadorship at a special event hosted by Grosvenor Casinos just before the Goliath 2026 poker tournament. Reflecting on his lifelong passion for poker, Ivor expressed his love for the game and the continuous learning experience it offers.

Apart from his poker pursuits, Ivor worked as a production operative until the age of 98. He appreciates how poker has evolved over the years, becoming more strategic and attracting talented players. Despite the changes, Ivor values the friendships and experiences he has gained through the game.

GGPoker brand ambassador Leah Hauer praised Ivor for exemplifying the qualities that poker rewards, such as patience and decision-making. She highlighted the inspirational aspect of sharing the table with Ivor and the continuous learning opportunities in poker. Angela Martin, GGPoker’s head of marketing, lauded Ivor’s embodiment of the essence of poker, which goes beyond mere card-playing and emphasizes personal growth and camaraderie.

The upcoming Goliath tournament at Grosvenor Casino Coventry is expected to draw over 6,000 players, solidifying the city as a hub for live poker events.
