A new wildfire is currently devastating the Greek island of Crete, while Europe’s emergency response chief has issued a warning that the entire continent could potentially be engulfed. In a separate incident in Gironde, a massive fire that consumed 42,000 hectares is now reported as “stable” after a relatively calm night. Cooler temperatures and expected showers are anticipated to aid in firefighting efforts.
