A young child suffered severe facial injuries after being attacked by a dog at a pub in Staffordshire. The incident occurred in the beer garden of The Wulstan in Wolstanton on Wednesday afternoon. Witnesses described the boy, aged two, as being “covered in blood,” causing panic among pub guests who then sought emergency help.
The toddler received initial treatment at the scene for his serious injuries before being transported to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further medical attention. According to Staffordshire Police, the child has since been discharged from the hospital.
Philip Preece, a pub regular, recounted witnessing the tragic event, mentioning that the dog involved appeared to be of a Bulldog breed. He described the child’s initial happy family moment turning into a scene of distress and chaos after the sudden attack.
Emergency services, including the ambulance and paramedics, responded promptly to the situation. The West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed providing treatment to the injured child before transferring him to the hospital for emergency care.
Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident and are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward. The police are seeking public cooperation to assist in their ongoing inquiry.
