A 16-year-old boy is suspected by the police of fatally stabbing his mother and causing serious injuries to his 12-year-old sister in a tragic incident of family violence. The authorities responded to the situation at a residence on Mills Street in Bentley early in the morning, discovering the lifeless body of a 35-year-old woman. The young girl, with severe wounds believed to be from stabbing, was located approximately 600 meters away on a busy highway in Cannington, having fled the scene and contacted the police.
Detective Acting Inspector Jessica Securo of the Major Crime Division of WA Police disclosed that both the mother and daughter sustained suspected stab wounds. The girl managed to escape the house on Mills Street after allegedly being attacked by her brother. The 16-year-old suspect was apprehended by the police at a residence in Bentley later that morning.
Inspector Securo stated that the case is being treated as a family violence homicide, with no apparent danger to the broader community. She mentioned that the investigation is at an early stage and is being handled by the homicide squad. The injured girl is currently receiving medical care at Perth Children’s Hospital, while the police are delving into past interactions the family had with law enforcement to comprehend the events leading up to the tragedy.
The residence remains sealed off as a crime scene, and detectives are conducting inquiries in the neighborhood. Inspector Securo stressed that investigators will thoroughly review all evidence and interview relevant witnesses in the ongoing investigation. As of now, no charges have been filed as the police probe continues.
