A man was fatally attacked using his own prosthetic leg before the alleged perpetrator proceeded to purchase a milkshake, as detailed in court proceedings. Dwayne Tuohey, a 55-year-old amputee, was discovered with severe injuries near some dumpsters on New Year’s Day 2026 in Leeds. Scott Silkstone, 51, currently on trial for Mr. Tuohey’s murder at Leeds Crown Court, denies the accusations.
According to the prosecution, Mr. Silkstone is accused of assaulting Dwayne in his residence, then dragging him to a lift and leaving him exposed on the street before buying a milkshake from a nearby store. When apprehended a few streets away, Mr. Silkstone was reportedly covered in blood and purportedly stated to officers, “I’ll have more injuries than him.”
During the trial, prosecutor Michelle Colborne KC presented CCTV footage showing Mr. Silkstone’s movements before and after the assault on Dwayne. The footage captured him entering and exiting a lift at the 17-storey Shakespeare Grange council high-rise building in Leeds, heading towards the location where Mr. Tuohey resided. The prosecution alleges Mr. Silkstone returned to Dwayne’s flat in an agitated state, subsequently leaving with visible bloodstains on his hands and face.
Allegedly, Mr. Silkstone went back to the high-rise building, where someone used Dwayne’s phone to make a call, as reported by Leeds Live. The same number had been dialed multiple times earlier that morning. Ms. Colborne stated that Mr. Silkstone was seen on CCTV dragging Dwayne from his flat to the lift, following a series of violent blows inflicted on the victim using various objects.
Details presented in court revealed that Dwayne was defenseless during the attack, with the living room showing signs of blood splatter and items like a shelf, prosthetic leg, crutch, and heater stacked up, all stained with Dwayne’s blood. The forensic scientist noted that the prosthetic leg had significant blood traces, with DNA from both individuals present, indicating it was potentially used as a weapon.
Ms. Colborne emphasized Mr. Silkstone’s actions post-attack, highlighting his continued aggression towards Dwayne, as evidenced by subsequent footage showing repeated strikes on the victim. The trial is ongoing.
